Sailing tip of the day

Nothing to do with the boat, but rather the trailer if you have one:

Put chocks in front and in back of both wheels. Add support under the back of the trailer so that the boat/trailer combination doesn’t tip when you stand in the back of the boat.

Learned both of those the hard way. The one I did *not* learn the hard way this past weekend – but someone else did – was ‘keep your trailer cable attached to your boat on the way down the launch ramp.’

Fortunately, the Flying Scot is an extremely solidly built sailboat. But the ‘thunk’ about 10′ short of the water got alot of attention.

Or – get a boat that’s easier to launch and recover – Melonseed forever :-)

(Sorry, couldn’t resist, I like the Scot as well.)
