And through the snow we go

Print Friendly

Yesterday was a school snow day for essentially every child in northwestern New York State and my kids were ecstatic to have a day off. Today, however, it was back to the books. We have a bit of a drive to get to their school, and the roundtrip took me more than an hour longer than usual due to drifting snow on the road. Well more than a dozen cars and trucks were off the interstate.

For a more serene image of winter, this was the scene outside our house yesterday.

Cardinals in the snow

When I first stepped outside yesterday I discovered that the snow was twice as deep as I expected. Our driveway wasn’t plowed until dinner time, so it was a snowy winter day to stay inside and try to stay warm. Unlike my kids, I had no snow day, but like them, I really wish that today had been one as well.
