WordPress plugin update

Every once in a while I examine the code used to run this website as well as the plugins I use for WordPress. Last weekend I did some clean up on both. I was able to eliminate some custom code while employing general purpose open source plugins.

The first new plugin is All in One SEO Pack. This rewrites the titles, meta keywords, and page descriptions for the posts and pages delivered by WordPress. It makes it easier for search engines (SEO is “search engine optimization”) to connect your page with search criteria input by browser users. It seems to be working, though that observation is unscientific.

The second is Post Layout. This allows you to insert custom HTML or JavaScript code at the beginning or end of a post, as well as immediately after a continuation. It saves sticking the code into a WordPress theme, thereby making it in a custom theme.
