More site tweaking

I’ve been trying to streamline and make it easier to navigate this site, especially the blog. Tonight I moved the Google searchbar over to the left since it is really about the whole site, not just the blog. Then I got rid of the blog entry calendar (anyone ever use that?). I thought it was ugly. I never used it. Finally, I used the WordPress-dTree plugin to provide tree widgets for the categories and blog archives.

A few things are at top level that might go below existing categories. For example, “OpenDocument” could and should go below “Standards,” but I wanted to make it easier to find. I’ve been thinking of adding a category for “Open XML” and putting it under “Humor”, but I’ve so far resisted. I have to watch myself in moments of weakness. Suggestions on further design changes welcome.
