An interesting announcement here, the IBM Open Client Solution for Enterprise PCs
    http://www-03.ibm.com/press/us/en/pressrelease/21060.wss
    and an interesting service here
http://rethink.ebay.com/odcs/custom.htm?template=membersolutions#industry where ‘ebay’ is coordinating a recycling effort for Personal Computers; many in the commercial, goovernment, and charity sectors are participating, though it is not completely clear what they are actually doing.

I guess that this means if the Amsterdam government wants half-a-million open-source ‘seats’ deployed for running their business, then they can just call up their IBM salesman, agree a price and a contract, and it will be done. If they have half-a-million old Personal Computers that want recycling because there is no room in landfill, they can be used for the purpose.

So, are Personal Computers like Automobiles, where you need a thriving second-hand market to prop up the price of ‘new’ ? Is this ‘good’ or ‘bad’ for the “Lenovo-with-Windows” product ?
