Being CEO of RedHat must be rather like being skipper of a sailing yacht between two aircraft carriers (named IBM and Microsoft).
Neither IBM nor Microsoft distributes Linux. Both deploy it internally. And there’s this one-time joint venture, OS/2, sinking beneath the waves. As that ship went down, Microsoft said ‘Buy Windows’ and IBM said ‘Look at Linux’. The corporations jumped off opposite ends of the sinking ship.
New joint venture is chips for XBox360′s. I wonder if James Whitehurst has an XBox360 at home ? It might be an interesting introduction to a complicated business.
