RAMP and WS-I

Tom Glover is stirring the pot again with two provocative and timely posts about profiles in the web services world.

In the first post entitled “Next steps for WS-I : Interoperable Reliable Asynchronous Messaging” he asks whether it isn’t time that WS-I took up this important work since it is generating a tremendous amount of customer interest. The acronym for this profile is RAMP and I think it’s going to be really big and really important to many vertical industries. Take a look at what he has to say.

His second and more recent post concerns the voting rules of WS-I itself. He asks “Next steps for WS-I: Changes in voting rules?”. He raises some significant points that the Board should consider. The issue of Board composition and voting has been controversial since the beginning (I know, I keep hearing about it from certain quarters). We made some fixes soon after we launched the organization but, as Tom points out, maybe it’s time for more changes so that WS-I can continue with strong momentum and avoidance of dead-lock. I’m glad Tom is in place to try to shepherd this through.
